Be Authentic

The best tool in any writer's tool kit is authenticity. Trust your voice. Don't write like you think writers write. Don't say what you think is writerly. Express yourself clearly using your own words, using your own tongue, using your own language. The best gift you can give to any reader is your spirit, your language, your authenticity.

Writing is a deeply personal practice. It is a record of you, your thoughts, your meaning, your action. It is you. So write in your voice. Use your spirit to deliver a message that is true to your being and your nature. If these were the last recorded words left upon Earth, let them ring truly of you.
